Avalanche warning for region Indre Troms Sunday 04.04.2021

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Published:
A very tricky situation. A persistent weak layer from January is reactive and can be triggered remotely in shallow spots. Danger signs are absent. Use caution on recently wind loaded slopes.

Avalanche problems

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a large truck or destroy several houses (size 4).

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Saturday 3. April 2021

Mountain weather

Saturday 3. April 2021

5 mm precipitation, up to 12 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong breeze from west. -8 °C to -2 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Sunday 4. April 2021

5 mm precipitation, up to 10 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from west. -14 °C to -5 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Utvis stor varsomhet.
